I was invited to come to this program called M.O.P.S. "(Mothers of Preschoolers) by another "MOM" ,Shawna who attends the same traveling preschool that my twins go to twice a week. Today was my first day, and I'm so glad that I went. It's really a day for us WOMEN to rejuvenate ourselves as Mothers and Wives of our households. It was very welcoming to arrive, sign in and get our little ones dropped off into the daycare rooms of their age group. They wear a cute little blue sticker that you fill out and then stick on their back, that tells the care taker what their name is and who their mom is and where your actually seated! So in case they need to find you, it's all on there for them! It's actually really nice! But for me it was reassuring to know that they would be okay.
I was seated at the tiger table or the "TWINS" table near other mothers who also have multiples like me! Our tables were decorated so beautifully, it was rather nice being able to have a couple hours for ME and only me. We had a fabulous breakfast spread...which is traded off in groups every other week. I just took a huge bite of the most yummiest chilli corn muffin, when my name was called for a door prize!...It was so cool, I won some fun CD's and video's for the twins! Yay..MOMMY..We also did a fun craft together and had a group discussion about different questions that other women submitted pertaining to parenting. The Questions were read aloud and discussed with us as a whole.
I believe what took from today's class was the question about "How do we make our dinner time more resourceful for our children?"....What I learned is that I need to be a better LISTENER to my children. I know sometimes while I'm getting dinner ready, my children will come to me randomly and fire off questions at me that I can't necessarily answer at that moment. I learned today after hearing other encouraging words that I can really create a stronger line of communication with my children if I just take those few minutes to "LISTEN" to whatever it is that they want to share with me at that MOMENT rather than telling them to WAIT and trying to hurry to get dinner made, the house cleaned, etc....It can also be a great time for my children to get in there with me and help out, while I'm getting dinner ready for our family! That was my AHA moment for today and I'm sure other mothers had their own AHA's with questions they had about other situations of concern.
The twins did okay in their classes, being that this was their very FIRST time that they were ever babysat by someone else other than my family.............they cried a bit here and there and I forgot to mention that even with your crying babies"........they have what they call "RUNNERS"...they are individual people who go and to check on your babies for you while your relaxing in your discussion groups. They will actually be the ones that PEEK in on your little ones and they'll come back and let you know how they are doing...so your kids don't freak out and scream as soon as you pop your head in their classroom!...Last bit of advice...this is nationwide program, so find out where the nearest group is in your area, it's so fun! There is a small fee of $53.00 for the year, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Thank you Shawna for inviting me today! I had a great time!
