We couldn't have asked for a more spiritual baptism than this!!! Wow, Wow, Wow! We all know how time consuming baptism's sometimes can be, especially LDS ones, so I made it a point to ask those close to Amaya that knew her well enough to use visual aids in their talks of "Baptism" and the "Holy Ghost". Kaulana did such an awesome analogy of Baptism for Amaya by using two jars one that was empty, and the other which was filled with what looked like "plain water"...she also had a bag of styrofoam which is actually shaped in the letter "S" which in her talk represented sin...she asked amaya a series of questions of what would she consider sin would be..Amaya replies "talking back to my mom and dad"...as she answers Kaulana drops one piece of styrofoam into the Empty jar which represents her body now....as she repeats a new sin a new piece of styrofoam was dropped in the empty jar...she then showed Amaya that after Baptism all her sins will be washed away and added those "pieces of styrofoam into the jar filled with so called "Plain water"...as she did the styrofoam disinegrated in the fluid and was no more....it was so perfect!
My good friend Frannie who happens to be Amaya's primary leader did her talk on the Holy Ghost...which in her talk she used a movie theme!!! She brought a basket filled with so many great things which represented "The gift of the holy ghost" and this is how she did it...she added disney DVD's and said to remember to watch good movies, nestle crunch...when she's in a crunch...(red vines) to use those vines to climb through obstacles...but the good news she says (good news candy) is that if she keep the 7th sabbath day holy everything will be up from there (7 up soda).....she had popped popcorn that when you are searching for good friends, much like popcorn sometimes there are those kernals that have not popped that you have to look for at the very bottom of the bag...those friends are hard to come by that have the same values and likes as you do, but you'll be able to find them if you sift through those friends that don't have the same values....the best part about it was that amaya got this whole basket of goodies to take home...they both did the best job...
It was on Saturday morning and we had breakfast....I mean the bomb breakfast...cocoa rice, bread pudding, lil smokies, eggs, fried rice, fruits, veggies, fresh pog juice, and on and on...only in Hawaii can it be this way...
The program was so awesome...Amaya was so emotional along with the rest of our family. Mana gave such a beautiful confirmation and sang a few numbers and did such a beautiful job! We really tailored the program to an 8 year old child with our children saying opening and closing prayer, all cousins sang different musical numbers, and plenty of awesome visual aid talks!...We cleaned up and called it a day! We are so proud of Amaya's decision to be baptized, and thank you to all of those who helped in every way possible...We are grateful and love you so much!
